Handmade Victorian vintage crocheted lace bohemian shoulder bag

This is a beautiful Victorian style over the shoulder handbag that you can wear when you are feeling extra special, a wedding bag or spunky casual with jeans. It is a very sturdy bag, that has a thin cotton quilt batting between the main fabric and lining.

The front of the bag is covered with a large vintage doily, with the pointed ends of the doily hanging past the bottom of the bag. The band around the top of the bag was made of the same fabric used for the lining and covered with cotton lace. A strand of pearl trim was hand stitched across the front of the band. Across the bottom of the bag is a strip of 3" fringe, vintage lace, and tassel trim with pearls. A satin flower appliqué has been sewn at each bottom side of the bag.

The front pocket was made using a cut out cotton fabric doily, lined with a dark floral fabric. At the center of the pocket I added a large French Victorian looking metal medallion. Across the top of the pocket is tassel trim with large pearls. I also added the front parts of a pair of vintage earrings. I then hung each end of a pearl necklace from each side of the pocket.

At the lower back portion of the bag, I added the remaining part of the doily that was used on the front of the bag, with the pointed ends hanging past the bottom edge. A piece of cotton lace was added across the top edge of the doily. A small cotton doily with a cut out floral appliqué was sewn to center back of the bag. The inside is lined with a pretty floral decorator fabric. Inside there is large pocket that has been sewn down the center. Two satin flower appliques were added to the pocket.

The main part of the strap is made of the lining fabric, with cotton lace sewn to the outside part of the strap. A small pink crocheted flower with vintage button was added to the strap. Where the strap is attached on each side of the purse, a filigree jewelry finding with lace has been sewn on.
The bag is kept closed with a large pearl and a loop of pearl trim.
